With Rousey’s WWE status unclear, Olivi sat down with the former UFC Bantamweight Champion and former RAW Women’s Champion to discuss all things UFC and WWE, from her relationship to Dana White, to her WWE experience and what the future holds for her.
The 21-minute interview developed a lot of interest because Rousey spoke candidly about things that she’s never normally open about. But with her WWE career up in the air, she decided to be frank about what lies ahead for her.
You can watch the full interview below.
#5. She’s trying to start a family now; a WWE return is unlikely
For a long time now, everyone, including WWE, has known that Ronda Rousey’s time in the ring was limited because she constantly had baby fever. Living with her husband Travis Browne on their “Browsey Acres”, she was very open about her desire to begin a family
She said that she’s trying to do the “baby thing”, but was very open about the fact that she missed WWE and the women’s locker room. She said
#4. She really wanted to work with Stephanie McMahon
When Ronda Rousey signed on with WWE, her personal request was that she worked with Stephanie McMahon. Why? Because it only made sense to complete their story.
If you recall, WrestleMania 31 saw a brief interaction between Rousey and Stephanie McMahon, when the then-UFC Bantamweight Champion took out both Stephanie and Triple H.
Since that point, it seemed like a no-brainer that they would cross paths at some point if Rousey ever competed in WWE and that happened to be first in line for the “Rowdy” one. She told Olivi
She praised both McMahon and Triple H, stating that she succeeded only because she had the best to work with.
#3. Revealed the difference between UFC and WWE; said she had the “easy route” in WWE
Ronda Rousey is one of the rare few who have big-time experience both at UFC and WWE. At UFC, she was the first woman to ever headline a PPV and is basically the reason why women continue to headline PPVs today.
A box office success, it poured onto WWE, where she competed at the highest level and ended up main eventing WrestleMania. Clearly, she knows the difference between the two. She stated that while UFC is far more physically stressful to the body, they’re still allowed to take breaks in between fights.
With WWE, they’re constantly on the road 300+ days a year, which makes it gurelling in itself. She also stated that she got the “easy” route in WWE, due to her somewhat part-time schedule.
#2. She went “off-script” on the RAW before WrestleMania
Remember the RAW before WrestleMania, where Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey got into a major brawl backstage? It led to all three of them getting handcuffed. There was a moment where Rousey and Lynch were placed in the same car, leading to them kicking each other.
In the heat of the moment, Ronda Rousey then dented the window frame and kicked the glass completely out. It’s a miracle that it didn’t affect Becky Lynch, but Rousey stated that it was something she really wanted to do, despite being told otherwise.
Thankfully, it ended up working out just fine, because it translated well on television and nobody ended up getting hurt.
#1. Her first UFC PPV main event meant way more than main eventing WrestleMania
Ronda Rousey’s two pivotal career moments were main eventing a UFC PPV vs Liz Carmouche and main eventing WrestleMania as one of the first three women to ever do it. While she was fully appreciative of her opportunity to main event WrestleMania, she explained in detail why the fight against Carmouche was far more important to her.
